which are detailed below.

46.4m Elfje

Doyle Sails NZ was selected as the sails supplier of choice for Elfje (project 392), a 46.4m high performance cruising ketch, built by Royal Huisman.

“Project 392 is a highly optimised performance design, which makes Stratis the perfect fit for this project,” said Mike Sanderson, Director of Sales for Doyle Sails NZ, sole suppliers of Stratis laminates to the Doyle Group of Sailmakers. “The Stratis range was designed specifically with performance cruising and racing superyachts in mind and is ideally suited to this innovative ketch.”

30.5m Indio

From the first communication on what sails we desired for INDIO to the final fit and sea trial, Doyle exceeded my expectations: design discussion, detailing, aesthetics and customer service. INDIO is now a faster and safer boat to sail on… not to mention she never looked better!” - Captain Mark Fliegner, S/Y Indio.

Already a Doyle customer, in 2013 Indio opted for a full new set of Doyle Stratis ICE sails.

43.9m Encore

The 43.9m sloop Encore was launched at the end of April by Alloy Yachts. Having installed a full Doyle inventory on their previous superyacht, Encore’s owners once again commissioned a full inventory of Doyle sails, including a Stratis main, genoa, blade and staysail.

“Encore’s sails are fantastic,” said Chris McMaster, MD of Doyle Sails NZ. “The sails fitted the boat perfectly straight out of the bag, with no alterations needed. The yacht and sails performed above our high expectations and we are looking forward to seeing her in action.”

50m Ohana

"Once again Stratis shows that it doesn't have a challenger: it is the best product on the market for superyachts. Ohana's sails are wonderful and very fashionable, but most important they are an unbelievable speed maker: they are well shaped, powerful in light breeze and handy in fresh wind" Captain Mattia Dzaja, S/Y Ohana

Featuring a 63.1m Southern Spars rig Ohana flies over 1 ton of sails by Doyle Sails and Stratis, with a total sail area of 4,085m2 including her main sail of 636m2 and a gennaker of 1,600m2. Under sail she reaches maximum speed of 18knots, and averages at 12knots.

44m Salperton IV

Salperton underwent a refit after a dismasting when sailing off Guadaloupe in 2011. Following the stepping of a new Southern Spar carbon rig, the yacht returned to Palma to have new Doyle Stratis high performance sails fitted. The new sail program included mainsail, reacher, jib and purpose built racing blade genoa. This blade genoa was fitted with C-Tech air battens. These feature high pressure tubing along the leech. When connected to an air supply the batten pockets are pressurized. This system allows for fast sail changes without having to install, remove or store long battens.

58.4m Kokomo

Kokomo hosts a complete inventory of Doyle Stratis membranes designed and produced in New Zealand, and easily boasts many records in sail construction and sizing world wide. At 2,227 square meters (23,971 square feet) the Gennaker is thought to be the largest sail ever constructed at the time.

The working inventory comprises of a total of 3,038 square meters (32,688 square feet) of Stratis membrane sails, and many innovations in sail handling systems and detailing. The Mainsail has a custom designed boom furling system that utilizes the conventional bolt rope system of the Southern Spars, but also a self loading batten car system jointly designed and tested by Doyle and Southern Spars over the last 18 months, which addresses many of the weak points of boom furling systems with the advantages of full battens in a yacht of this size.
