Finn

Doyle Sails NZ range of Finn Class sails was developed by Richard Bouzaid in conjunction with Olympic Finn medallist and World Champion Rafa Trujillo.

The sails – available as a L/M (Light/Medium) Black, M/H (Medium/Heavy) Blue and M/H (Medium/Heavy) Black Medium/Heavy sail depending on the weight of the user – give a big step over the competition through use of the innovative thread aligned Stratis technology.

Blue - For lighter sailors

Black - For 96kg+ sailors

We also offer the addition of a carbon upgrade to carbon battens and carbon headboard, which saves more weight and allows even more performance gains from the most technologically advanced Finn sail in the world

Work with Rafa Trujillo

Rafa Trujillo has worked with the team at Doyle Sails NZ to develop these highly refined sails. Rafa has enjoyed considerable success with the new models including a win at the 2012 Spanish nationals. He has undergone training camps with the Chinese and Brazilian national teams and reports that the sails are outperforming the current inventory used by the teams.

Optimist

Doyle Sails New Zealand offers four new crosscut Optimist sail models, designed by Richard Bouzaid and Andrew Brown. The sails have been extensively tested by the New Zealand Opti Worlds team, and refined according to their feedback to ensure optimum performance. The sails are fast, and easy to handle meaning more time to spend on tactics when it counts.

There are four sizes of crosscut sails in the Doyle Optimist range: the ORANGE is the smallest in the range and is a flat easy to use sail, the BLUE is for those over 30 kg and is a small-medium size, the RED is for over 38kg sailors and is designed as a medium-large sail and is the most popular sail in the range. The WHITE is for the more experienced and bigger sailors around the 50kg mark.

The new sails have already been extremely well received by Optimist sailors. Having seen the Doyle Optimist Red sail in action Otto Henry, Australian National Champ 2014, purchased and is currently trialling his own Doyle Red. This endorsement from one of the sport's best is a great example of why the Doyle Optimists sails have a growing reputation as the must have weapon of choice for Opti sailors.

All orders for Doyle Optimist sails come with an expert tuning guide, written by Andrew Brown.

Doyle Sails is also the New Zealand dealer for J-Sails.

Etchell

Doyle Sails New Zealand's Etchells Sails are made to the same designs and specifications as Jud Smith (Multiple NA
Champion) and Dave Curtis (7 times World Champion). We provide local support an tuning guides for Etchell's customers

There are two Main selections, five jib selections and three spinnaker selections in the range. These sails have achieved fantastic results in recent years, and Doyle NZ's own Richard Bouzaid is a regular in the Etchell's class

P Class

Doyle Sails New Zealand has two sails in their P Class range. Both the GREEN and the BLUE sail have been successful at a national level in the past and were tweaked and redefined by the Doyle design team in 2014 ready for the anticipated resurgence in the P Class. Our P-Class sails are fast and easy to use with a big groove for different sailing styles.

Both Andrew Brown and Ross Dibley have a long association with the class and will be big supporters of your P Class campaign.

Elliott 5.9

The Doyle New Zealand loft has a great affinity with the 5.9’s with Mike Sanderson campaigning the mighty Retro and many other members of the loft sailing in this exciting class. The Retro crew recently took out the Opua E5.9 Traveller Series 2014, following their overall win in the 2014 Traveller Series.

For our E5.9 sails we make use of the innovative Stratis technology. On offer is main design, 3 jib designs (Light, AP, and Heavy) and a Spinnaker design. The Doyle sails are seen at the top of the fleet in the Traveller series but we offer the same service and support to every customer whether they are long-established or just starting out.

Young 88

Doyle Sails has enjoyed a long and close association with the Young 88 Class, and we continue to build on this relationship, and to develop our already successful designs so that they are at the cutting edge of technology and performance. The One Design Young 88 racing is tight and any little advantage gained is huge.

All sails are designed and built using computer generated moulds specifically developed for the Young 88 Class, and overseen by our head of design, Richard Bouzaid. The 2014 Stratis ICE #1 Genoa is the smoothest sail seen in a long time, with the 2014 Spinnaker a more stable sail in the lighter breeze but very powerful in the breeze so you can mode low when needed and have speed forward.

Recent national success includes 1st place for Flash Gordon at the 2014 and 2013 Young 88 Nationals, 2nd and 3rd place at the 2012 Young 88 Nationals for Flash Gordon and Sister Moonshine, 1st place at the 2011 Nationals for Flash Gordon, and 1st and 2nd place at the 2010 Nationals for Flash Gordon and Sister Moonshine.

About the range

Mainsails come as the standard class sail. The #1 Genoa, #2 Genoa come in both the “Grand Prix” and “Club Race” lines. Spinnakers have a runner or all-purpose option.

The line of ‘Stratis GPc’ Club Race sails offers more durability, utilising 100% Kevlar fibres combined with a layer of soft polyester internal taffeta, while still giving excellent performance at an attractive price.

The ‘Stratis GPx’ Grand Prix line is still the best choice in terms of pure performance; manufactured with a combination of Kevlar and Carbon fibres, laminated between clear Mylar films. This offers the ultimate combination of strength for weight and resistance to stretch.

Having undertaken a lot of development on our downwind sails, our Spinnaker designs are fast, stable and easy to trim.

Paper Tiger

The Paper Tiger class has had a great resurgence in the past few years and now boosts some of the best numbers at regattas. Doyle Sails New Zealand has won the last two inter-dominion champs with Dave Shaw, from Nelson, taking the honours each time. Our design team has put significant work into the class and are looking forward to the 2015 year being another Inter-dominion champs year!

Doyle has two sail designs on offer:  the Dacron and Stratis mainsails. For more information on these sails contact Andrew Brown.
