Rio 100 has won its division in the inaugural SoCal 300.
The challenging race was held over May 22-24 in some of the roughest waters of the Californian coast and designed for serious ocean racing teams who wanted a challenging offshore course.
Hosted in tandem by the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and the San Diego Yacht Club, the course saw the fleet leave from Santa Barbara, weaving through coastal islands before the finish line in San Diego.
Rio 100 completed the 260 nautical mile race in 16 hours, 27 minutes which has now become the time to beat for further editions of the race. The maxi yacht came first in her division and third overall in this new race which competing crews are labelling a must-do.
