News One Design division goes from strength to strength

16 Dec 2014

Over the past six months we have seen Doyle Sails NZ’s One Design division go from strength to strength with huge support across the One Design classes. July saw Andrew Brown appointed as One Design Manager and he has been helping to spread the word about our One Design Range. We have put a lot of support into supporting the classes and key events, and also launched our inaugural Junior Scholarship programme this year. Thank you for all your support in 2014 and we are looking forward to continuing to work with the One Design classes in 2015.

2015 Optimist and Finn sails available

The 2015 design for Optimist and Finn sails have been locked in and are now available for sale.

There are four sizes of crosscut sails in the Doyle Optimist range: the ORANGE is the smallest in the range and is a flat easy to use sail, the BLUE is for those over 30 kg and is a small-medium size, the RED is for over 38kg sailors and is designed as a medium-large sail and is the most popular sail in the range. The WHITE is for the more experienced and bigger sailors around the 50kg mark.

Doyle Sails NZ range of Finn Class sails was developed by Richard Bouzaid in conjunction with Olympic Finn medallist and World Champion Rafa Trujillo. The sails – available as a L/M (Light/Medium) Black, M/H (Medium/Heavy) Blue and M/H (Medium/Heavy) Black Medium/Heavy sail depending on the weight of the user – give a big step over the competition through use of the innovative thread aligned Stratis technology.

Wins in the Green and Gold Fleet at the North Island Optimist Champs

A fantastic result in the North Island Optimist Champs, with wins in both the Green and Gold fleet by Doyle-powered boats. Big congratulations to Oliver Cowley, QCYC, who won the Gold Fleet using his Doyle Blue sail. We were stoked to have three Doyle sails in the top ten - Oliver 1st, Josh Berry (MBSC) 7th and Ben Beasley (KYC) 10th. Meanwhile in Taupo, another win as Josh Blackie (TYPBC) took out the Green Fleet using his Doyle Red sail. Very proud all round!

12ft Skiff Team Trials

Congratulations to Doyle's Andrew Clarke, who won the 12ft Skiff Team Trials on C-Tech with Chris Reid using a jib he built himself.
