Leopard 3 has reinforced her reputation, taking out the fastest monohull round the island in the JP Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race.
The McConnaghy Boats-built yacht is powered by Doyle, and was constructed to break records. With a rig height of 47-metres, the 30-metre boasts a huge sail area, something which has seen her perform strongly in other Round the Island races, as well as regattas from the St Barth's Bucket, to the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous, to the ARC Race.
The race, on Saturday 27 June, saw the Farr-designed yacht tearing around the course to take line honours in the monohull division. Coming in sixth overall in the 50nm race, Leopard posted an elapsed time of 4.40.34, falling short of the records she'd previously set in other editions of the race but still displaying strong performance.
Conditions on the water were perfect for the 1500-strong fleet with clear skies and a south-westerly of 12-15knots. 2015 marked the 84th edition of the yacht race, which sees the fleet circumnavigate the Isle of Wight.
