In 2013 one of the Doyle team Kent McNish and two friends undertook the 'Kitesurf challenge' where they kitesurfed from Auckland to Great Barrier Island, raising nearly $7000 for Starship Foundation for sick children in the process. You can read all about that successful challenge, which was supported by Doyle, here
Well, now they are doing it again. Kent and friends are organising the Kitesurf for Kids Bir Air Contest, with a provisional date of 21st September 2014, to raise money for the Starship's Children Hospital. Held at Muriwai beach, the event will team up with the JC Auckland Kitesurf Series with the $20 entry fee going straight to Starship. Nearly $1500 has already been raised, with huge support already being shown for this hugely worthy cause.
Kent and organisers were inspired to hold another event after seeing a friend's newborn baby undergo lifesaving heart surgery at the hospital and benefit hugely from the care given by the Starship team. "Any help and donations towards this fantastic cause are much appreciated," said Kent.
