Only a small number of yachts took on the challenge of the Auckland – Musket Cove Ocean Race 2013. With some challenging weather it was an eventful race, that saw three yachts withdraw including Squealer who sadly dropped her mast just 120 nm off Fiji, and Outrageous Fortune who returned to Auckland following a man overboard incident.
The multihull division was won by Team Vodafone, which crossed the line first. In the monohull division, V5 repeated their success in the Auckland – Noumea race in 2012, completing the race to win with a time of 5 days 5 minutes and 2 seconds. Skippered by David Nathan, V5 reached breathtaking speeds in excess of 30knots at times, courtesy of their new Doyle Code Zero. Click here for video of V5 sending it on her way to Fiji.
