Following the launch of the Doyle Sails NZ Junior Scholarship programme in 2014, the 2015 Junior Scholarships were awarded at the 2015 Optimist Nationals at Worser Bay this week.
More than 200 sailors participated at the event in Wellington, with a strong percentage of Doyle Optimist sails being used by the fleet.
Scholarships were open to NZ-based sailors and were presented to Top Green Fleet and Top Three Age 13 in the Open Fleet.
Top Green Fleet
Charlie Loughran - Torbay Sailing Club
Top Three Age 13 Open Fleet
Campbell Stanton - Murrays Bay Sailing Club
Francesco Kayrouz - Wakatere Boating Club
Henry Wilson - Murrays Bay Sailing Club
Recipients of the scholarships will receive a host of benefits over the coming year, including mentorship and on-water training from Andrew Brown, One Design Manager, and the Doyle Sails team, a tour and work experience at the Doyle loft and a Doyle gear bag and kit.
Congratulations go to the four new recipients and all participants at the Nationals, and thank you to our outgoing scholarship holders, Blake McGlashin, Scott McKenzie, Jackson Keon and Lewis Anderson. We look forward to continuing to work with them and watching their sailing careers progress.
